The OSU Festival Latino team brought hard work, high energy and thoughtful engagement to the OSU outreach booth at Festival Latino in downtown Columbus on August 10-11, 2024. Representatives from OSU were from the following offices:

  • The Department of Spanish and Portuguese coordinated the booth with lotería games and prizes.
  • The Center for Ethnic Studies prepared swag and giveaways, including tote bags, bookmarks, stickers and bamboo utensils.
  • The Office of Diversity and Inclusion shared Qué Pasa magazines and helped to spread the word about OSU Latinx programs.
  • The Center for Latin American Studies supplied smiling staff and joyful capeoira demonstrations.
  • NP Immigration provided critical immigration resources.

In addition, there was a number of undergrad, graduate, and faculty volunteers, led by the tireless Diego Ruiz-Tagle Muñoz and Esteban Benalcazar Cepeda. These participants are all shining examples of SPPO community spirit and pride. The festival participants who approached the booth shared sincere hopes about language learning and the prospects of higher education, and the team was deeply moved to have the chance to be there with the community.
