Announcing the return of the Humanities Institute Makerspace! On select afternoons this academic year, 198 Hagerty Hall and the surrounding hallway space will be open for drop-in art-making. The maker space will offer projects and materials in a variety of media, with projects reflecting the content and interests of our centers and other humanities affiliates.
Makerspace events are free, open to everyone and welcoming to all. No registration is required- drop in and make art in your own time. All levels are welcome!
We're kicking off the semester with an XL-sized Makerspace, with throwback crafts celebrating magic and folklore! The OSU Chemistry and Biochemistry Demonstration Lab will join us for making SLIME! Plus perler bead charms and ornaments, bubble wands and other crafts from childhood. We'll have a few surprises as well. Find us in the entryway outside of 198 Hagerty.

Autumn Makerspace Events
Remaining dates and themes for AU26 are as follows:
Friday, October 23: the folklore of Halloween, with "Scare Mail," cryptid crafts, cootie catchers and other spooky-themed crafts, co-hosted by the Folklore Student Association. Learn about the history of Halloween divination, the tradition of Halloween greeting cards and more! AND, we'll be getting ready for "Moth-vember." Make mothman and other cryptid-themed crafts to prepare for our screening of The Mothman Prophesies and our Hammond Talk on American monsters.
Friday, November 6: Cryptid pop-up. We interrupt our usual Makerspace schedule to celebrate American monsters. Moth headbands, moth ornaments, plus a few surprise cryptids and projects. More information coming soon!
Friday, December 4: holiday and winter-themed papercrafts, including greeting cards, gift tags, garlands and more. Learn about the folkloric monsters of the winter season: Krampus, Frau Perchta, Yeti and more- plus other holiday and winter-themed projects with traditional (non monstrous) materials.
