A Student Assistant is needed for approximately 10 hours per week in support of the Humanities Institute and its constituent centers and programs in Hagerty Hall. Primary duties will include support at Institute and center events (general setup, cleanup, recording/livestreaming support, distributing handouts, distributing/collecting/tabulating exit surveys and similar materials, etc.); preparing and delivering mailings for constituents, and running various office-related errands, as well as helping to staff the Institute’s front desk in its primary administrative office suite in 455 Hagerty. Periodic light word processing and spreadsheet work, along with some general office duties (copying, filing, front-desk support, etc.) and some special projects may also be involved, including some support for the Institute’s marketing and communications coordinator through content management system-based maintenance of social media platforms and unit websites.
Ability to work periodic late afternoons / early evenings (generally no later than 7:00 p.m.) is desired in order to support lectures and other events. Otherwise office hours are scheduled between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Basic familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite (esp. Word, Excel) is a plus. Prior experience with HTML and/or content management systems also a plus. An academic or work background in the humanities more broadly would be very helpful but not necessary.
