Join us on a select Friday each month for a casual gathering with the humanities community. “What the….? Fridays” coffee chats are conceived as opportunities to gather and assess current conditions in an informal yet informed manner.

In the context of what's going on in the world, let’s take some time to share our understandings of big issues and brainstorm ideas for how to uphold the best values of our work.

March's topic of conversation will be "small joys." Taking a cue from local writer, critic and creative visionary Hanif Abdurraqib, this conversation will make space for and center the “small joys” and “little pleasures” that give us life, animate our work and inspire our creative and intellectual process as artists, academics, teachers and students. Bring at least one example of something (a practice, idea, routine, text, song, image, etc.) that moves your life and work in a positive direction. On the footsteps of spring, let’s lean into hope and joy for a moment!

Coffee, tea and pastries will be served. This event is free, open to the public and welcoming to everyone.
