Professor William’s talk and the follow-up Q and A will provide an historical backdrop for the enormity and urgency of the student debt problem.  Professor Williams edited the minnesota review for many years, and he has written extensively about higher education for Dissent and the Chronicle of Higher Education.  His current collection of essays about the academy is forthcoming from Fordham University Press.

Jeffrey Williams is professor of English at Carnegie Mellon University.
