Born in Columbus, Ohio, Maggie Smith is the author of The Well Speaks of Its Own Poison (Tupelo Press, forthcoming), winner of the 2012 Dorset Prize; Lamp of the Body (Red Hen Press, 2005), winner of the Benjamin Saltman Award, and two prizewinning chapbooks.  Her poems appear in The Paris Review, The Southern Review, The Iowa Review, and many other journals.
