The Center for Ethnic Studies invites you to "Critical Perspectives on America's 250th," a conversation examining the 250th anniversary of the United States through critical, historical and cultural perspectives. Speakers Ashley Hope Pérez (Comparative Studies and author of Banned Together: Our Fight for Readers Rights), Carlos Rivas (History of Art and Ethnic Studies), Jona Hilario (Ohio Progressive Asian Women's Leadership), Lorna Americanhorse Jansheski (graduate student, Department of Arts Administration, Education, and Policy), and other guests will discuss how the nation's semiquincentennial observance creates opportunities to reflect on the histories, communities and experiences that have shaped the United States, while considering whose stories are included, represented or overlooked. Light refreshments will be served.
This event is free, open to the public and welcoming to everyone.
