Janice Radway is Professor Emerita of Communication Studies, American studies, and Gender studies at Northwestern University. Author of A Feeling for Books and Reading the Romance, along with other major interventions into the fields of American cultural studies and gender studies, Professor Radway is currently completing a manuscript tentatively titled, “Zines, Girls, and their Travels: Troubling Social Forms in Unsettled Times.”
This conversation between Professor Radway and Barry Shank, emeritus professor of Comparative Studies, will begin with a discussion about the interdisciplinary methods required to investigate and analyze zines and girls as equally unstable forms, and will branch out to consider the pressures on Humanities scholarship in general in our own troubled times.
